The BRĀV Difference
RCG’s BRĀV utilizes a new technology that dramatically simplifies the
backup and recovery process. By employing inverse chain technology,
BRĀV eliminates the traditional backup chain. BRĀV takes data
directly from the server and converts it into virtual machines (.vmdk
files or vhd files) that can be booted instantly from a remote web
interface. This new way of storing data allows for instant on- and
off-site recovery and can prevent businesses from having to experience
costly downtime in the event of a catastrophe. Following every backup,
a test virtualization is performed and confirmation is sent via email.
BRĀV sets the new standard for business continuity, providing
companies with an advanced insurance policy against loss of data and
downtime.
Screenshot Verification of Backups
BRĀV
contains another industry-first feature: verification of backup,
bootability and hardware independent restore. After a backup, the
image file is test booted and a screenshot of the booted VM is emailed
as confirmation that the backup occurred, that it’s bootable and can
be recovered instantly. Flexible scheduling for screenshot
verifications allows you to set the parameters for the frequency of
screenshot verifications, which can happen as often as every hour.
When the automated verification occurs, the screenshot is emailed as
part of your backup report. These screenshots are not only a useful
resource to confirm data integrity, but also reveal server damage or
corruption before it is readily apparent to users.
Supported Operating
Systems for Screenshot Verifications:
Windows 2000, Windows XP, Server 2003,
Windows Vista, Server 2008, Windows 7
Break Free from the Chain
The
BRĀV
backup process eliminates the area where problems arise most with a
traditional backup process: the backup chain. BRĀV takes
your data and converts it directly into a .vmdk file each time a
backup occurs. Your most recent backup image is always the base image
and does not rely on past incrementals to restore data. Since each
backup is a fully bootable virtual machine, there is no need for a
conversion process to occur before performing a restore. Finally,
inverse chain technology means data is always available immediately.
Users never have to worry about an incremental being damaged or a
complicated roll up or restore process.
Recovery Options
Recovering
files and folders is a simple process where the entire server is
mounted as a volume on the BRĀV. The files can then be copied to the
destination server over the network. BRĀV also supports Microsoft
Exchange and SQL recovery.
Virtualization (Physical to Virtual)
BRĀV is
capable of virtualizing failed servers while keeping the exact system
state previous to the failure. This means there are no configurations
necessary as the virtual server retains the same IP address and
application state. Once virtualized the server will resume the same
backup schedule previous to the failure, giving you the same level of
protection as if you were running the physical server.
Bare Metal Restore (Virtual to
Physical Recovery)
When it comes time to restore the temporary virtual server back to
physical hardware, BRĀV is equipped to perform Bare Metal Restores to
dissimilar hardware. Once the server image is loaded on the new
server, BRĀV enables the manipulation of the hardware abstraction
layer by inserting new drivers for the new hardware.
Monitoring and Management
RCG monitors and manages the BRĀV 24x7 at our
Network Operations Center (NOC). If an issue occurs during any backup
process or with the hardware, our NOC is immediately notified and will
take corrective action. Not only do we monitor the entire solution,
but we can also manage it by performing restorations and
virtualization of servers as needed. RCG performs daily tests to
verify the integrity of base images and incremental snapshots, and can
work with your team to make sure any errors are quickly resolved.
